I am a medical graduate interested in pursuing a career in patient care and in medical research and innovation. My interest in medical investigation, research and innovation goes back all the way to my rural village on the foot of mighty Himalayan range in Nepal, where I was born. The scarcity of resources and the tough mountain terrain always encouraged me to find some newer ways to solve the problems we have been facing for decades and centuries.
I have heart for helping people, so I founded a non-profit to help the under served children in Nepal, which has been entirely funded by myself till now. I grew up in a small village in Nepal where there is still a scarcity of educated people. None of my friends who went to junior school with me graduated from high school. I was fortunate enough to get out of that vicious cycle of poverty and illiteracy. Now, I feel I am in a position to help those people who have been left behind, who have so many expectations from me. They have dreams and they are hopeful, but there are no opportunities. Unemployment is more than 50%, so only way to have a living is depending on traditional and very inefficient farming. We should introduce the newer ways of cultivation and agriculture. The efficient of farming should be implemented to bring revolution in production which directly have greater impact on the health and education of the living in those remote areas.
I have been quite fascinated by the recent work of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation where they have been working on to bring revolution in these areas: efficient agriculture and farming, improved education and tackling the major international killers in health through the innovation in health care.
